Happy Birthday NKM48!

NKM48, お誕生日おめでとう！！！

Happy 1st birthday to NKM48! It was a year ago that the original team released our first release. Time flies by so quickly! Over the year, the group has overcome a lot of hardship and obstacles, but we have become a stronger team because of it. We’ve made mistakes, but we’ve learned from them. Our job is not an easy one. Along the way, we added new staff members one by one. Everyone willingly volunteered for the job, and thanks to everyone’s dedication to the team and to the idols, I would like to think that we’ve had a pretty successful year. At the end of the day, I am proud to call them my NKM Family. I wanted to thank you all for your support over the past year, and I hope you will continue to support us in the future!

Now… onto the big surprises!

In case you haven’t noticed, we have a new banner thanks to Mika, the person who made our original banner!

In addition to the new banner, you’ll see a line of Japanese under it. This is actually a quote from Oshima Yuko. It says 「仲間が人生の宝物」(Nakama ga jinsei no takaramono). In English, it means, “Friends are life’s treasures.” I really feel that we embody this phrase perfectly, so we are adopting this phrase as NKM48’s official motto!

We’ve been working on and off on this release since it came out, but we finally finished it! Just a quick disclaimer that there might be some inconsistencies, but we hope you enjoy this! Even if you aren’t a Kitarie oshi, I feel that this is a good documentary regardless. This was a total team effort, and everyone on the team contributed to this release. Some of us worked tirelessly on this release and poured our hearts and souls into this. We are proud to release the full hour-long special of Kitahara Rie 24 Years Old, The Idol Way of Life!

And finally the big news. We held a poll to let you all choose the next show we pick up as our new release. I’ll admit that this voting process ended up being a lot more dramatic than I originally anticipated. Some cheating was discovered and as a result, NogiEigo’s final total vote count will have 50 votes subtracted from it. So, without further ado, here are the results.

1. NogiEigo: 247 votes – 50 penalty = 197 votes
2. Konya wa Otomari: 190 votes
3. HKT no Odekake: 113 votes
4. AKBINGO!: 83 votes
5. AKB to XX: 55 votes
6. AKB Nemousu: 41 votes
7. AKB Kanko Taishi: 11 votes

That’s right! After considerable deliberation, the team and I decided to do both NogiEigo AND Konya wa Otomari! The votes were extremely close, and we took the comments very seriously. Due to the popular demand for Konya, we decided that thanks to YOUR comments, it just didn’t make sense to not do it. After bouncing back and forth our workload, we felt that since NogiEigo only releases once a month, we could manage to do all three shows. Congratulations to these two shows for winning our poll, and thanks to everyone for voting!

Again, thanks for all of your support and for making this year a great one for NKM48. I am giving the staff a well-deserved two-week break after we catch up these few episodes of AKB SHOW, so we will resume activities in the new year.
