Eps 71-74 are all stuck at ASM. They’ll be done soon~
Here is episode 78 of AKB48SHOW! This one features an opening skit between NMB’s ace and upcoming ace, an in-studio performance of Bokura no Eureka, a hilarious skit featuring Milky, an infiltration report on the 2nd AKB48 Sports Meet, and a disaster-stricken area visit.
ASM: Okay, I need to address one thing. You might think this to be insignificant, but I love the Japanese language and refuse to let the English-speaking fanbase look ignorant because of a few fans who think they know Japanese. Calling the Sports Meet a “Sports Festival” is pretty inaccurate. The Sports Festival refers to the Mecha-Mecha Iketeru special, but if you watched this, then you’ll notice that it’s NOT hosted by Mecha-Mecha Iketeru and is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EVENT. The Japanese kanji is COMPLETELY different. Here’s some proof.
This image is from the Mecha-Mecha Iketeru special (credits to AIDOL for subbing it). It says taiiku matsuri, which correctly translates to Sports Festival.
Now, THIS image is from this episode.
The top right says dai undoukai, which A. Is NOT the same as the above Mecha-Mecha Iketeru special and B. more correctly translates to Great Sports Meet. Additionally, on the bottom left, it’s referring to the first sports meet they did, but it’s NOT the Mecha-Mecha Iketeru special. Therefore, it should be referred to as the Great Sports Meet, or Sports Meet for short. Sorry, this just really bothered me because a few fans didn’t realize that these were two different things and pretty much canonized the wrong name for it. Yes, I’m calling out those fans. Sorry, just needed to get this out of the way.
On an additional side note, the idea of a Facebook page as been brought to our attention multiple times. After doing a staff vote, the idea was unanimously shot down. The main reason was due to privacy, or lack thereof. Also, here’s another side note. Eps 71-74 are all stalled at me because I just started a new job, but I hope to have them all finished this weekend. Sorry for the wait!
